Description/Reflection
The indigenous people are a very important part of Australian culture . While in Australia , I had the opportunity to talk with adults and even interact with the kids of an Aboriginal community . These communities have litter-strewn streets , homelessness , and generally poverty-stricken homes . There is so much alcohol and drugs too . Their heritage is so rich though ! Many people busk for money along the streets . Circular Quay is a prime spot , being in the very heart of Sydney . This man , posing with my friend from Bethel , Danica Myers , was one of the regulars at the Quay . The painting on his face extends to cover much of his body , and this, added with his gestures and the drumbeat of their music and chant singing , is very characteristic of their traditional music .
