Description/Reflection
After spending the morning at the Acropolis in Athens , we had the rest of the day to explore and eat on our own . Fellow IFOTA trekker Eric Boal and I were in search for the perfect gyro hotspot , as that quickly became our meal of choice in Greece . During our search , we ran into Dr . Rasmussen , with gyro in hand , near the Plaka . He directed us to this place . We entered the busy restaurant to see a crowd of people shoulder to shoulder . Looking off to the right , one could see a crew of guys preparing gyros and kabobs in assembly-line fashion . We went to a nearby counter , put up our fingers to let them know how many gyros we wanted , gave them a few Euro , received our receipts , and joined the line at the other counter to receive our food . That's when I took this shot . It was a great sight . Pitas piled everywhere , lamb kabobs covering the grill , workers rushing to prepare the food , and a sea of locals seen in the reflection of a set of warped mirrors . That was the best part (besides the food !) . Not one English word came to ear , and no other Americans were in sight besides Boal and I . We were not hard to pick out , either , as you can see in the reflection on the mirrors . The only two guys in the place with stocking caps on and cameras around their necks walked out of the restaurant enjoying culinary bliss , at a price of only a couple of bucks apiece .
