My dear Dr. Reuterdahl:-
Your letter of January 27th and copy of the Theistic
Monthly at hand. I certainly appreciate the fine form in which you
put my article into your paper. I really wish, since you have ass-umed
leadership for the opponents of our anti-evolution bill, that you would
meet me in an open debate before the legislature. Of course, I know
wecould not go into the legislative building, but we can have their
presence in another building very easily. Why not do it? It is a fair
field and if you can defend yourself and your philosophy, all right,
and if you can't, I ought to be defeated. If you will permit me to
engage in a debate with you in your magazine, I will gladly do it,
giving me, say, space of 2000 words to open, you 2500 to answer, and
me 500 to close the debate. My subject would be, "Resolved, that evolution
is a fallacy and should no longer be tolerated in tax supported schools".
